Northgate will take responsibility for all aspects of the service, including the Wide Area Network, Local Area Network and Telecoms, which will be delivered in partnership with its subcontractor Eircom.  The five year contract will see Northgate design, implement, manage and support Europe’s first Education Cloud environment for schools in Northern Ireland, providing secure access to resources online, 24 x 7 from a wide range of devices. Eircom will deliver superfast connectivity to the Education Cloud, providing schools with up to 200mb of bandwidth.

The new service has been designed to create a dynamic, future proofed, flexible service which provides schools with increased access to learning resources and the ability to collaborate and develop skills which will equip learners for the future.

Schools will have greater flexibility and choice in how ICT is used across the curriculum.  Improving wireless technology supports the growing trend for using mobile devices in the classroom – allowing teachers and students to gain access to the network and resources securely via personal devices such as smart phones, IPads, tablet PCs and laptops.  Schools will access a range of applications, educational resources and toolsets through Northgate’s innovative My-School learning portal.

The new Education Cloud provides the ability to scale computing resources to meet the needs of schools both today and in the future with schools benefiting from secure cloud computing. Centralised backup and archiving services ensure that schools have access to virtually unlimited storage.  Commenting on the contract, Andy Ross, Chief Executive, Northgate Managed Services said

“This is a tremendous achievement for the company and is one that clearly positions Northgate as a leading provider of innovative ICT services for schools. Building the first Education Cloud in Europe is a significant point in the company’s history and creates a fantastic platform for future growth in the UK and beyond.

“Winning the contract is also of great significance for the local economy. The continued investment in ICT in schools ensures that every student can attain the vital ICT skills needed for today’s technology driven workplace and support the continued growth in Northern Ireland’s vibrant technology sector”

Jimmy Stewart, Director, C2k said, “The new ICT service has been designed to recognize the educational requirements of Northern Ireland schools, deliver technology driven learning environments and incorporate the latest innovations in technology.  “Northgate has continuously demonstrated excellence in the education services it has developed and has a highly talented and dedicated team in place. I look forward to working with Northgate in the coming months and to deploying the ENNI infrastructure in schools across Northern Ireland.”

CHICAGO, ILCision, the leading provider of PR software, services and tools for the marketing and PR industry, today announced the launch of the Social Influencer Search, a new way for Cision users to search by keyword and find digital influencers publishing content on a particular topic.

Through this feature, unique to Cision, users can search for influencers who are tweeting, sharing or blogging about a specific keyword. FAMU Alumnus Receives One Million Views and Releases Positive Rap Album “Amongst The Stars”

Source:  BlackNews.com

Orlando, FL — In a genre oversaturated with glorified violence, drug selling, and disrespect for women; Alvin “Vthov” Giles, a promising positive rapper and musician, emerges using his gifts to redeem hip-hop culture. He champions a movement titled Books over Bullets and has made an impact making songs that challenge the status quo to do better.

With over one million online plays under his belt, he has released his debut album “Amongst the Stars.”  Alvin Giles is a summa cum laude graduate of Florida Agricultural and Mechanical University, where he spent five years developing his talents as a musician, producer, and lyricist.

He adopted the moniker Vinthoven, a creative twist on “Beethoven,” to distinguish himself as an artist. Fans and supporters know him as Vthov (pronounced vē-tōv). This month, he hopes to reach new audiences with a collection of songs that can help change the music industry for the better.

Released March 2nd, “Amongst the Stars” is a dream come true for the Orlando native. Years of futilely seeking validation from industry executives have taught him to be courageous and true to self. A driven, more mature artist now at age 25, Vthov has started his own positive hip-hop label and is taking his music and message directly to the masses without the major label intermediaries.

“I used to think my big break would come from some other source. Then one day, I realized that I would have to make things happen for myself. ‘Amongst the Stars’ is the result of all my prayers and diligence. Now it’s up to the people to tap into the movement.”

His music has been gaining popularity on YouTube and other online communities since 2008. To date, his online presence boasts over one million plays and an international following of listeners of all ages.

Escaping the confines of mainstream taste, Vthov produces thought-provoking lyrics over musical compositions that appeal to a diverse audience. Elements of jazz, R&B, rock, and gospel emanate from previous works and his new album. “Amongst The Stars,” the 12-track debut release, offers a polished blend of positivity, storytelling, wit, and bold musicality.

Vthov says his goal is to promote a unique brand of hip-hop with a fresh perspective. His new album aims to break down the negative images and personas often associated with hip-hop and success within the culture. The material promotes inspiring themes such as anti-violence, self-motivation, and education. “I put my heart and soul into this project. I want to give the people something that seems to be missing from most of our music right now.”
