CHILDREN MIS-BEHAVING? TRY A PARENT‘S “TIME-OUT,” SAYS NEW BOOK AUTHOR, DR. PRUDENCE POLLARD

Leadership Development expert and Oakwood University management professor Dr. Prudence Pollard discusses her new book, "Raise a Leader... God's Way."
Huntsville, AL — In her new book, Raise a Leader… God’s Way, leadership development expert and Oakwood University (OU) business management professor Dr. Prudence Pollard offers strategies for raising children and training leaders at every level.
In this 122-page book published by the Review & Herald Publishing Association Dr. Pollard, OU’s First Lady and mother of two adult daughters, pairs parenting tips with Godly principles and values for the parent who wishes to raise a leader. Through fun, easy to read, yet insightful tips, she provides parents with helpful ways to incorporate God into their child rearing. The first chapter, for example, gives an in-depth analysis on how the first representation of leadership the child sees will be from his/her parents and how such representations should reflect Christ-like values.
Subsequently Pollard urges that, while parents should be cognizant of their child’s uniqueness, they should also be mindful to maintain the God-fearing value system in every part of the family life.
Dr. Pollard writes of the value of Christian education, developing one’s child into an “other-centered individual” and showing God’s character upwardly, inwardly and outwardly.
Currently Dr. Pollard, also serving as Oakwood’s Assistant Vice President for Faculty Development, Leadership, and Quality, is a board member of both the Women’s Resource Center and the Bradford-Cleveland-Brooks Leadership Center at Oakwood University.
All proceeds from Raise a Leader… God’s Way will go directly to fund student scholarships at Oakwood University, Dr. Pollard’s alma mater.
