Do You Know the Real Romney Yet?

Now that Mitt Romney has completed his marathon race through the Republican primary season, many Americans are watching to see which Mitt Romney emerges to face President Barack Obama in November. The fact that his own campaign Senior Adviser, Eric Fehrnstrom, earlier this year referred to him as the “Etch-A-Sketch” candidate, saying “I think you hit a reset button for the fall campaign. Everything changes. It’s almost like an Etch-A-Sketch – you can kind of shake it up and we start all over again,” does little if anything to demonstrate that Romney is his own man.
Romney’s frequent use of the legacies of former President Ronald Reagan and his father former Michigan Governor George W. Romney, further illustrates his desire to acknowledge, defend and celebrate legacies of those other than his own – which include his stints as Massachusetts’ Governor and as co-founder of Bain Capital.
Neither position has provided Americans with a glowing picture and sense of appreciation for characteristics one would want to find in a president or true leader of all the people of the United States of America. Romney seems to be hanging his political hopes on the fact that Americans’ weary and short-lived memory will focus only on the themes of businessman and family man, while the republican establishment works tirelessly to continue stifling and challenging every effort by President Obama to resuscitate and sustain growth across the country.
So if your families are struggling and in need of action by Congress or the Senate, don’t worry “be happy.” One must not forget the real priorities of this nation. Remember, it was Senator Mitch McConnell who proudly proclaimed that Republicans’ “single most important goal,” is the defeat of President Obama in 2012. Obviously “by any means necessary.”
I can only guess where the country’s economy would be today, if that same determination, drive and focus utilized by Republicans had been used to work with the current administration? Instead of just going through the motions and providing partisan bills with no chance of going anywhere – well you get the point!
Meanwhile Romney, in pursuit of the White House, will keep spending those millions helping Americans forget who he truly might be and perhaps, just like Seamus – Romney’s Irish Setter who got sick traveling 12 hours on the roof of the car, we all might decide to give up and dare utter a collective sigh of “Are We There Yet?”
