Job Summary:
This position is located in the Office of Policy and Research (OPR) a major component of the Employee Benefits Security Administration (EBSA). Office functions include: (1) the analysis of complex policy and legislative issues involving or affecting employee benefit plans, especially in the areas of tax, health care, insurance, and securities law, (2) coordination of policies and legislation within the Department of the Administration, (3) implementation of Section 513, Title I of Employee Retirement Income Security Act (ERISA) by conducting research studies and economic surveys relating to employee pension and benefit plans, and (4) provision of assistance to Congress and other Federal agencies by supplying technical assistance, information and analyses relating to employee benefit systems. Assignments and responsibilities require the application of extensive professional knowledge and experience in actuarial science, mathematics, and statistics and a broad background and depth of understanding in employee benefit plans, business, financial and economic principles, annuities, and life and health insurance principles, practices, risks and contingencies. This position starts at a salary of $68,809.00 (GS-12). All positions are subject to recall around the clock for emergency management operations, which may require irregular work hours, work at locations other than the official duty station, and may include duties other than those specified in the employee’s official position description. Travel requirements in support of emergency operations may be extensive in nature (weeks to months), with little advance notice, and may require employees to relocate to emergency sites with physically austere and operationally challenging conditions.
