According to Wikipedia, “Popular culture is the entirety of ideas, perspectives, attitudes, memes, and other phenomena that are within the mainstream of a given culture, especially Western culture of the early to mid 20th century and the emerging global mainstream of the late 20th and early 21st century.  Heavily influenced by mass media, this collection of ideas permeates the everyday lives of the society.”

The City of Louisville, Kentucky is known for many great events and personalities… the Kentucky Derby, the University of Louisville Cardinals – 2013 NCAA Collegiate Basketball Champions, Actress Jennifer Lawrence, News Anchor Diane Sawyer and the only lineal three-time heavyweight champion of the world – Muhammad Ali.  AllMuhammad_Ali_NYWTS have a legion of pop culture followers and enthusiasts.

Now, people in Louisville can add Wizard World Comic Con to that list.  The event, slated for March 28th through the 30th, 2014, is known for being the place where “pop culture comes to life,” and focuses on providing thousands of fans the opportunity to experience the best in pop fi, graphic novels, comics, toys, video gaming, television, sci-fi, original art, collectibles, comic-themed sessions, costume contests, the Wizard World Film Festival, movie screenings, celebrity Q&A’s and more.

The three-day Wizard World Comic Con concludes on the 30th with a fun-filled Kids Day, featuring programming and activities designed specifically for younger fans.dean-cain-6  There will also be an opportunity for attendees to dress up in costumes of known and unknown characters during cosplay and strut their stuff throughout the Kentucky International Convention Center, where they will be seen and acknowledged on the Show Stage.

Louisville is the fourth of sixteen stops scheduled by Wizard World during the 2014 season.  Other cities include or will include; Portland, New Orleans, Sacramento, St. Louis, Minneapolis, Atlanta, Philadelphia, San Antonio, Chicago, Richmond, Nashville, Austin, Ohio, Tulsa and Reno. norman-reedus-10

Wizard World’s inaugural event in Louisville will feature a variety of notable celebrities and writers such as: Superstar comic creators Ethan Van Sciver (“Green Lantern, and Flash”), Phil Ortiz (“The Simpsons, Muppet Babies”), Actors; Norman Reedus, Michael Rooker, Jon Bernthal, Sarah Wayne Callies and Scott Wilson (“The Walking Dead”), Sean Astin (“The Lord of the Rings Trilogy, Rudy”), Michael Rosenbaum (“Smallville, Justice League”), Robert Hays (“Airplane!, Paranormal Movie”), Jon Heder (“Napoleon Dynamite, Blades of Glory”), James Marsters (“Buffy The Vampire Slayer, Torchwood”), Dean Cain (“Lois & Clark; The New Adventures of Superman, Stars Earn Stripes”), Jason David Frank (“Mighty Morphin’ Power Rangers”), Lou Ferrigno (“The Incredible Hulk, The King of Queens”).
