On January 21, 2015, at Hope Lutheran Church, located at 2222 North Taylor, Cleveland Heights, HCC presents “A Conversation after a Funeral”, an original play by Cleveland Heights resident Dr. Mary Weems.

The play is set at the conclusion of Emmett Till’s funeral who died on August 28, 1955. He was an African-American boy who was murdered in Mississippi at the age of 14 after reportedly flirting with a white woman. During the play, Till has a conversation with Anne Frank. Frank died in March of 1945 at the age of 17. She wrote in her diary about how she and her family went into hiding during the Holocaust.

The conversation between two teenagers, who were radically affected by cultural misunderstanding, lends itself to meaningful and relevant dialogue.
