LIFE’S SECOND CHANCES…
BY: BEENETWORKNEWS.COM
“We talk about giving prisoners a second chance—but so many people in prison have never had a first chance.” —Project Literacy
Although, America is only 5% of the world’s population it has an estimated two million plus people incarcerated. Less than 60% of those behind bars have basic or less than basic literacy skills. More than 600,000 thousand individuals are released back into society each year, and over six million are on probation. With numbers like these it makes sense to work to educate and repatriate the formerly incarcerated Americans into productive roles that enhance their chances of not returning to prison within the first three years.
Recently, New Legacy a re-entry program based in Louisville, Kentucky, held a Media-Thon to raise awareness and funding that helps individuals return to neighborhoods as productive citizens. In the following video, Author and journalist George Addison joins Chea Woolfolk to discuss his book “Moments in the Shadow of Greatness Volume One” Community Re-entry and Life’s Second Chances. Please watch and support these efforts.
