The American rapper and actor “Tupac Amaru Shakur” also known by the names 2 Pac, Pac and Makaveli was born. Named by Rolling Stone as the 86th Greatest Artist of All Time, Shakur has sold over 75 million albums worldwide since 2010.

13-year-old Hector Pieterson was the first person to die in the 1976 Soweto Uprising in South Africa when police opened fire on protesting students.
